Start of Summer Term in Class 4B

On Thursday 18th April we were very lucky to have a group of people from 'Get Cycling' come in to our school. They had many styles of cycles which we were given the opportunity to ride.

 

We had a fantastic afternoon but we had to brave hail stones and really heavy rain!

What's happening in Class 4B?

On Monday 28th January, as part of Book wee we had our pyjama afternoon. We had to dress up in our PJ's and bring our favourite Teddy to school. We had bedtime stories with a drink and biscuits!

In maths we have been doing work on Weighing and we had great fun making salt dough! Take a look at us in the photos below:

In science we have been doing the topic 'Keeping Warm' and we have taken part in lots of experiments measuring temperatures and finding out which materials are best thermal insulators for keeping a hot drink hotter for longer and also how to stop snowmen from melting. We made coats for mini snowmen and tested their coats to see which one stopped the snowmen melting for the longest.

Our trip to Southend

On Tuesday 21st June Year 2 all went on a trip to Southend. When we went back to school the next day we had to send postcards as if we were sending them from Southend. Here are a couple of the postcards we wrote:
Dear Mum and Dad,

You could not belive what happened yesterday we visited the seaside!We went by a coach and it took a very long time to get there.Miss Roberts said that it is more than half an hour but finally we reached there.First we walked to the toilet my legs started to hurt but we got to the toilet and the children who did not need to go to the toilet sat on the stairs and got a little break.After we took a break and went to the toilet we went to the pebbly beach and group by group went to the ice-cream shop and we bought a hard rock it's quite a funny name but we did not eat it on are trip because it is very stiky.When we finished are ice-cream we collected some shells from the pebbly beach I found about five or four but is was so fun. After that we went to the sandy beach and that was so much fun and we tried to make a big sadcastle but it ceapt on breaking.

Yesterday I went to the seaside.First of all we went on a long coach journey. The coach was humoungous.It was so big inside.We saw the sea on the journey . Finally we got there.We saw really big rolocoster's aswell.xxxxxxxxxx Jonathan

All About Space!

2R have been learning about SPACE!. On Monday Miss Mugali came to 2r and we had to talk about the Sun which we already know a lot about. Miss Mugali told 2R to do a report on the Sun. The next day we wrote our reports. Miss Roberts told the Sharks (that is the name of one of our tables)  to do a full page of work all about the Sun if you could manage that but if you couldn't just to do half a page.  On Wednsday we a had to do yet another report this time on the Moon but we had to make it a bit more exciting than our reports on the sun.
Following this report was one all about the Earth.
After all this hard work we made planets out of paper mache.

2R Christmas Party!

On Tuesday 14th it was KS1’s CHRISTMAS PARTY!


Before we could eat we played musical statues and the music was brilliant.Then we played musical bumps, where we could win prizes. After that we all went in are classroom and we ate nearly all of the food that was delicious. Next we played in are class room pass the parcel.


We really enjoyed the games and our parties. HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

Reception - our Dance Off!

To help us raise money for this fantastic company to visit Fairlop and share stories with our Nursery and Reception classes, we held a sponsored Fancy Dress walk and a Dance Off!

Nursery children wore their fancy dress and walked around the school field and Reception Classes did a dance off in the playground. Unfortunately, you will see from our short clip that we did not get to record all the event on video, so if any parents have film that we can use, please let Mrs Skinner (ICT Teacher) know!

Thanks to all the parents who attended and did so well in raising such a wonderful amount in sponsorship - we couldn't have done it without you! Watch our blogs to see how the children enjoy the storytelling event in the summer term.

Planting beans

The children in RBW have planted some broad beans. They each put some compost into a plant pot and then popped a broad bean into the soil. We have been watering them and they are all growing now. Please look at the photos to see if you can see your child.
